CC645 Maura's Challenge

Maura aka beesmom challenged us to use Pacific Point, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight with the dessert being nature.  As guest designer over the last month for the Splitcoaststampers Color Challenge, this was the most challenging for me.  Not one of the colors are my go to colors I don't think Pacific Point has been used more than a handful of times.

This is the first one I made.  I decided to use my Penny Black stamp set called Full Bloom.  The sentiment is Heartfelt also by Penny Black.  The layer didn't look good on Daffodil Delight so I decided to just spritz the Daffodil on the card.  I added a few drops of Glossy accents.  The layer was cut from Cottage Cutz dies.

For the second card I used SU's retired Wonderland, stamped the trees in Memento Black.  Then I used a 1 1/4 circle punch to create the mask for the moon.  I then started sponging.
I printed the sentiment from the computer and then adhered the panels with dimensional's.

Let's Chill and Shake CC644

This weeks colors for the Color Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers was chosen by Mary, the colors are Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and White.  Dessert is Christmas in July.  To be honest, I think it would be hard to make a card using these colors without it having a Christmas feel.  Well, maybe flowers would work.

The first design was this stocking.  The die retired from Stampin' Up long ago, but last years and still current Cable Knit embossing folder cried out to be used on it.  I decked it out with some seam binding ribbon in white a white banner with Merry Christmas embossed in Black and Snowflakes cut from my Big Z snowflakes die also retired.  The snowflakes were cut from Fun Foam and painted with Wink of Stella.  I took thread and a needle and sewed them into the bow.

Next was a stair step card using Penny Blacks Let's Chill girl.  I couldn't help getting her because my youngest says "Chill" a lot.  She was colored with Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol then I added some embossing paste to her hat and coat.  The designer series paper at the sides is from Frost Wood Lodge.

Last but not least, on Sunday morning while I was working on my designs I got an email from Unity Stamps with a tutorial on a shaker card.  Well, I just had to try it out myself and this is what I came up with.  Since I'd made two of the girls when I made the first card, I decided to use the second on this card.  The scene behind her is the tree from Lovely as a Tree.  I used Glitter for the snow.  The window was cut from Cottage Cutz and the DSP is retired Holiday Treasures.  The only difference in the girl is that she was fussy cut and adhered to the front.  Here is the Link to the Unity Stamps video tutorial.

Along the Beach WT644

Carla, challenged us to use fences in today's challenge over at Splitcoaststampers.  I used my new Tranquil stamp from Penny Black.

I stamped it using the Misty, it allowed me to stamp the image with different inks at different times to help create the scene.  The sentiment is also a Penny Black stamp from Heartfelt sentiments set.  I love the enjoy your day because it can be used for many occasions, and keeping it blank inside allows me to do that.  After the stamping was finished I used my aqua painter to make the fence more water colored by adding water and chocolate chip shadows.  I then sponged the sand and sky added water then blotted it off for clouds and highlights.  Wanted to trees darker so sponged on garden green.  added a few dots of Violet for little flowers at the edge of the fence.  Then finally the sentiment in Midnight Muse.

Ingredients
Stamps: Penny Black, Tranquil, Heartfelt
Ink: Distress, Vintage Photo, Bundled Sage, Moved Lawn, SU, Baja Breeze, Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Vintage Violet, Midnight Muse
Cardstock and Paper: Cranson 140lb Watercolor and Burlap from a pad

Christmas Gift Set CC643

As one of the guest designers for the Color Challenge over at Splitcoaststampers I had to come up with a design using Gold, Old Olive and Soft Suede.

If you'd like to know how to make the box, a youtube video by Sam Donaldson AKA Pootles shows you how,  Right Here.  The hardest part for me was taking pictures, I'm not very good at that at all and the gold foil and light colors made it difficult for me.

Ingredients
Stamps: DD Pines, To You and Yours, Winter Wishes
Ink: Encore Gold Metallic, Old Olive
Cardstock and DSP: Confetti Cream, Soft Suede, Old Olive, Gold Foil and Frostwood Lodge DSP
Dies and Punches, Delicate Ornaments and Christmas Greeting Thinlets, Impression Obsession Pine, Branch die, Unknown die, Martha Steward Holly branch punch, Confetti Stars Border Punch, Memory Box branch die.
Accessories, Gold EP, Cursive Embossing Folder, Scoreboard, Burlap pulled for bows.

Seas the day

One thing about getting older, I just can't sleep in anymore.  Today was really one of those days where I was up at 4:30.  The sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststamper was up so as I was thinking about what to make with it, I remembered my brother in-laws birthday is the 11th.  He loves sailing, so I went with that theme.

Stamps: Uncharted Territory SU, Ocean Wisdom Stampendous
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Basic Grey, Midnight Muse
Cardstock and Paper: Cherry Cobbler, Not Quite Navy, Whisper White and Nautical DSP
Accessories, a wee bit of Wink of Stella on the water.

Christmas In July

Imagine my surprise when I got a message on Splitcoaststampers asking me if I would like to be a guest designer for the Color Challenge.  To say I was excited would be an understatement it can happen for anyone, just play along and if the hostess of the week picks your card as favorite of the challenge then you could be asked.  That's what happened to me with this Card of mine.

Today's colors were picked by Barbara, she went with Pool Party, Tranquil Tide and Silver.  Tranquil Tide I don't have yet...but I could substitute it with a similar color.  I picked Indigo Island.  Dessert for this challenge was Christmas in July.  I'm melting down here in South Florida so this was a pleasure.  Click Here to see all the details.

Hang in there!

First, I'd like to thank everyone both  here and on Splitcoaststampers who have taken the time to comment on last months big challenge.  It really made it worthwhile for me.

Today's card is from a new to me stamp set from Unity Stamps,  I am trying very hard to only buy stamps that mean something to me personally.  When our girls were younger we had a tire swing on our front lawn.  The girls and all of their friends loved it.  My husband eventually took it down for fear that the branch of the tree might break.  Our girls have not forgiven him.

Mistakes happen, they sentiment was crooked, so what to do?  Well, I decided to mimic the tire,  and punch out a circle then put the sentiment on the lower layer.  Also, in keeping with using what you have, I did use two retired colors of cardstock.

Stamps: Unity Hanging in There
Ink: Versafine Onyx
Cardstock: Whisper White, Green Galore (R), Ballet Blue (R)
Accessories: 1 3/8 circle punch SU.  Dimensionals
Image was colored with Prisma Color pencils.

My Wish List Everything else.

Today I will share my list and thoughts on everything else in the catty.  Starting first with the in colors.  Last year I decided to just get a pack of the assortment cardstock and the markers.  Then if I loved any of them and used them up, then I'd get the pad and a pack of cardstock.  Guess what, it didn't happen.  So this year I am going to do the same, although I am pretty sure that the Lemon Lime Twist pad and a pack of cardstock will follow soon after.

Now on to the other goodies.
Designer Series Paper, this is something I really shouldn't get, I just don't use enough of it but I do have a few must haves this year.
Wood Textures paper stack.  I prefer paper packs, they are easier to leaf though and as a card maker, the size suits me better.  The wood textures I am sure will come in handy for years to come and wood colors never go out of style.
Naturally Eclectic DSP, Love the colors in this paper.

I do like the Coffee Break DSP but I can use the stamps I have to make my own if and when I need it.

Other Paper
Glossy cardstock is fantastic and I am glad to see it back.  I still have some but I am sure I will be adding more.
Very Vanilla Heavy weight, it's about time.

Accessories, honestly there isn't too much because I don't tend to use enough of them.  I tend to go to pearls or rhinestones that are smaller and I color them with sharpies or alcohol markers if I need to.  I have sequins from other companies but the Sequin assortment in iridescent is on the list.  I found it interesting to see so much wonderful new ribbon.  Personally I don't see many card makers using it as much as they use to so I am shying away from adding anything but the Copper Trim which looks super fun to play with.  I love that the watercolor pencils are now in SU colors, but I'm on the fence with these because I tend to gravitate to using my ink and aqua painter to watercolor.  I will be getting the Pattern Party Decorative Masks and the embossing paste, the new mini dimensional.

Tools,  I pretty much have all of them,  except the gift bag punch board, and since I can make bags with my score board, I'm not getting it.

Punches well, here is the dilemma, the daisy punch, I have the old retired sizzix daisies die.  But I do like the Daisy Delight bundle.  So that will wait.  I am really trying to not buy punches anymore.  They are heavy and take up a lot of space.  Having just moved this past year, I realize that if I ever downsize then punches just might have to go.

Embossing Folders, funny I don't use them as much as I used to, so I haven't put any on my list.

Dies, Just the Happy Birthday and the ones in the bundles I want, At Home and  Colorful Season.

My Wish List

My list isn't nearly as long as it would have been had I not spent a month copying cards from the catty using the supplies I have.  Yet, as any card maker knows there are always more supplies you need, um want.  So without further ado, here is my list.

Stamps:
Page 38 So many Shells.  Yes, I know I have a shell set but this one has fabulous sentiments and so it goes on my list.
Page 48 This little Piggy.  I searched and the only pig I have is from a very old set called Very Punny the pig is pretty tiny.  So this cute pig is on my list and I don't feel a bit guilty.
Page 99 Here for You  I like the sentiments, I think they will be a good addition to my sentiment since they are different.  This set isn't new but it caught my eye this year.
Page 124 Star of Light  Same as above, it caught my eye this year love the sentiments and the swirly star stamp.
Page 140 High Tide,  I have two sets, Light unto my Path and Uncharted Territory that have lighthouses but this set has so many stamps to build scenes with.  What's not to love about it, and since it made the catty, I will go ahead and get it.
Page 144 Country Livin'  Okay so I have lived without it for a year but I want to color those boots and the guitar with go nicely with the URock stamp I have.
Page 165  Sheet Music Background.  I hoard sheet music DSP, now I won't have to:)
Page 176  Feather Together, as I mentioned on the last day of my challenge, even though I have Four Feathers, I really love the sentiments is this set.  I still am sitting on the edge with this one though.
Page 177 Fabulous Flamingo, I don't have a nice flamingo stamp, just one I picked up in the dollar bin at Michael's.  I also like the grass and water stamps that go with it.

Bundles:
Page 54 At Home Bundle  Love the look of this bundle.
Page 147  Colorful Season Bundle  I need that Adirondack chair.

Over my years stamping, one of the things that I have learned is to wait awhile before jumping the gun and getting sets that are new.  I can't count the number of sets that I really wanted, that, over time I fell out of love with.  I have also learned that I need to really think about whether or not I can justify the cost of the set and how much I will use it.  This might be the case with the Colorful Season Bundle, that's one very expensive Adirondack chair.

Tomorrow, I will share what other goodies I have on my list.
